How to store and reheat New York cookies

Keep your NYC cookies soft for days, freeze them for later and bring them back to warm, gooey perfection in five minutes.

Got more cookies than you can eat in one go? (Respect.) Here's how to keep them at their best.

Storing: closed box, room temperature

  • Keep them in the closed box or an airtight container.
  • Room temperature, out of direct sunlight. Not on the radiator.
  • Not in the fridge: it dries them out.

That way they stay soft for a few days. Honestly, they rarely last that long.

Freezing: yes, you can

  1. Let them cool completely (if they were warmed up).
  2. Wrap each cookie separately in cling film or a freezer bag.
  3. Freeze. They keep well for weeks.

Handy if you ordered a box of 12 + 1 and want to save a few for later.

Reheating: the 5-minute trick

This is where the magic happens.

  • Oven: 160°C, 3–5 minutes. From frozen: let it thaw for an hour first, or give it a few extra minutes.
  • Air fryer: 150°C, 2–3 minutes. Keep an eye on it.
  • Microwave: 10–15 seconds, in an emergency. It gets soft, but the edges won't crisp up.
